Pure Parad Shivling: A Symbol of Lord Shiva’s Grace
In Hinduism, a Rasalingam or Parad Lingam is a Shivling, a sacred symbol of Lord Shiva, made from mercury. Ancient Tamil Siddhas are believed to have created Shivlings from solid mercury using a special process. This method of turning liquid mercury into solid form is a secret knowledge passed down by them.
In Tamil, mercury is called Pada-rasam, and a Shivling made from it is called a Rasalingam. In Sanskrit, mercury is called Parad, so it is also known as a Parad Lingam.
Rasalingams or Parad Lingams are worshipped in Shiva temples, ashrams, and other sacred places.
A Parad Shivling is believed to have stronger spiritual energy as its size increases. Many devotees trust that larger Shivlings bring greater blessings and deeper impact.
